The Severns Building by oldjosh

The Severns Building

A mediaeval building probably built in the mid fourteenth century. It originally stood on Middle Pavement but between 1969 & 70 the building was dismantled and removed to its present site in Castle Road. Like most of the city’s buildings before the mid seventeenth century, it is made of a timber frame, a tiled roof and originally had walls made from lime plaster and pebbles either side of a hessian core.
Many of the owners were leading tradesmen and dignitaries of Nottingham.
The buildings name commemorates the restaurant and wine merchants who owned the building from 1793.
