In Basford a footpath goes round behind the church, continues beside the Leen bends round through some open land and back onto itself. Earlier this year the path was closed for resurfacing and made wider but only reopened around the church. A little later work beside the tram line near Wilkinson Street started, shrubs and small trees were being felled and the ground levelled this stopped at some marshy ground.
I watched progress form the tram a saw that path from Basford was being extended this finished at the other end of the marshy ground. Nothing else was done for some time and the path remained closed.
On my way home in the tram after my holiday I saw that work had resumed and wooden supports were being put in place.
This evening I found the path opened, followed it expecting to find it blocked off but no I could walk to the end.
It apparently is being built as a footpath and cycle route. I wonder when it will be finished.
