The Jubilee Requiem by oldjosh

The Jubilee Requiem

passing Newark Northgate Station
Oh, this is a real surprise and pleasure! I lived in Newark for a few years (circa 1960) and liked it so much that I then returned for a few more years after I retired in 2000 before finally dragging myself back south where I belong. I also love steam trains which were still running in my Newark years, so this shot ticks two boxes for me and it has to be a personal FAV!

@wordpixman Thank you Arthur. I also spent a couple of years in Newark in the 60's and attended Newark tec. It was really by accident that I saw the train I had a friend who lived at Northgate station her father being the Station Master. Today I thought that instead of getting off in the town I would go and see if the station had altered much. Two railway enthusiasts also caught the bus to see the train so I joined them and others on the platform. The station looks much the same. I often see the Mallard when I visit my sister - in- law in Shildon.
