Oakham Singnal Box

Was built in 1899 to the Midland Railway design 2b and is a listed building. The box will be well known by Hornby railway collectors of all ages as it appears on the boxes. Airfix used it as a prototype for a plastic kit that is still in production today.
Another great reminder of the great railway age. Glad to see it's still standing - and protected as a listed building.

@wordpixman Thank you Arthur, I thought you would like this one. The line is still in use, by both passenger and freight trains, I took this from the footbridge over the line because I had to catch the bus home and couldn't wait for the very long freight train to go by. Will visit Oakham again and get a better shot of it and the footbridge

@gilbertwood Thanks Denise I always inerested in the history of places I visit so picked up a leaflet 'Oakham Heritage Trail' in the museum which gave just a little information about the buildings.
