Istrian Kazun from Croatia

Today I went to stay with my friend in Buxton for a few days. This evening we took a short walk along the High Peak Trail, we saw this new little building we had never seen before. An Information panel nearby informed us that:-

This Kazun – an Istrian stone shelter – is a gift from Croatia to the United Kingdom to mark the accession of Croatia to the European Union on 1st July 2013 in celebration and recognition of a shared heritage and tradition of vernacular dry stone buildings across Europe

It was built by dry stone masons from Istria, using limestone from the nearby Once-a-week Quarry and (for the roof) sandstone from Johnsons Wellfield Quarry near Huddersfield
