The Royalist Cannon

Newark in the civil war (2012 AD)
Sculptor by Michael Condron The Cannon combines heraldic emblems from King Charles I and Newark’s town crest to build up a metalwork surface of royalist imagery, including ostrich feathers that reflect the Cavaliers’ hat decoration. It rests on the Sconce; (a civil war defence) rusted and tilted as though worn down over the centuries.
Words on the cannon read
Trust in God & sally forth
Dieu et mon droit - God and my right, - the motto of the British monarchy
Great pov and shot
