Back in November I posted photos of the engine house and said I would revisit one Saturday when it was open.

The machinery was lovingly restored to working order voluntary by former mine workers. I was informed that everything is original; except the shinny bits (the railings and lift). Neither is George who is working the controls original or real.
The roof and beams; which I was informed had become posh lodgings for pigeons; are made of well seasoned oak so hard that you can't knock a nail into it.
The volunteer who was showing me round said that the pigeon droppings worked wonder for his runner beans.
In 1873 when the engine house was built the outside was clad with a new substance - concrete; although sandstone was used as lintels.
The wagon isn't from Bestwood but is similar to those used there were used there
