Wilwell Farm Cutting 1 by oldjosh

Wilwell Farm Cutting 1

it was part of the Grand Central Railway which linked Manchester to London via Nottingham, Loughborough and Leicester. The cutting was dug out in 1895 but abandoned when the line closed in 1967.
In the late 1970's plans to landfill the cutting led to a campaign to save the site which in 1981 became a Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI), Is now owned by Rushcliffe Borough Council and Leased to the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust

I knew about the site for sometime so today went to find it, not the right time of year to find much but now I know where it is I will make another visit next month
