Fly Point by onewing

Fly Point

We caught up with friends in Nelson Bay this morning and it was a pretty hot day.

As it is a public holiday thousands of people were congregating on the beach.

Personally, I don't get sitting on a beach but as we walked back to our car, I took a photo of the 'tourists' at Fly Point.

This is the main reason why most of us 'locals' hibernate until the end of January when the summer holidays end.

I really hate crowded beaches but luckily our local beach is outside the tourist area and doesn't get as busy as this.

Roll on February when the kids go back to school after the summer holidays and a lot of the visitors will leave.
Wow, pretty crowded

Yes , pretty crowded and not foe me , but makes for a colourful scene!!

Nicely capturing the scene though

Colorful line up!

I saw all the crowded beaches on the news tonight

Nice shot

I think if you live inland and have to travel to a beach, you want to stay for a while. I actually like those shade shelters. Here everyone uses umbrellas and they don’t do as good a job of shielding people from the sun. This is a great capture of the crowded beach. I’m glad for your sake (and ours, we benefit from your wonderful beach photos) that the beach closer to you is not really on the tourist’s radar.

Lovely beach capture. I pity a beach like this when I see it empty of people. Now I have a longing for Summer. However I prefer rocky beaches than the sandy ones.

A fabulous shot of the holiday makers and this lovely bay.

Great capture. They are smart to stay in the shade.

It does look crowded, but it makes for a vibrant scene.

Envious of the beach, not so sure about sharks

A nice shot of the busy beach scene!

Sitting here looking at this scene and wondering were my glass of rose is........

I'm not sure people here are as smart about shades like these. Looks like a good idea - after all those others go home!

I am not a beach person but love being by the sea and spend lots of time outside.
January 26th, 2023
That looks very busy and am amazed at the amount of shade people use. I don’t suppose there is as much sun here but you tend to see sun hats more.

A lovely beach scene with plenty of shade
January 26th, 2023
A lovely beach scene
January 26th, 2023
I also like empty beaches and that's why I go to the seaside in late autumn.
January 26th, 2023
I want to dig my feet into the sand and all I have outside is snow.
January 26th, 2023
Looks like a lovely day, well captured in wonderful colour Babs:)

What a lovely scene. My drippy, rainy, wintery climate makes me envious.

Lovely beach scene. When we lived in Cyprus, beaches were always better out of season!
January 26th, 2023
The sea looks very appealing!
January 26th, 2023
Great shot of this beautiful beach view.

deserted beaches are always the best but they can get a lot more crowded than this in the uk - when the weather is fine people flock to the coast. You are fortunate to live away from the crowds with easy access to a beach for walking.
January 26th, 2023
A nice capture. Makes me want to go to the beach, somewhere warm :-)
January 26th, 2023
Too crowded! Lovely image!
January 27th, 2023
great summer holiday scene - like you I prefer it less busy
January 27th, 2023
It sure does look crowded. February is just around the corner.
January 27th, 2023
Great shot. Does look rather crowed.

What a colorful fun capture!

Too crowded here for me but luckily, we know plenty of beaches in our area that the tourists don't know about.

@kjarn I hate crowded beaches.

@clifford No sharks in this area. Nelson Bay is sheltered and the sharks don't come here. On the ocean side of the beaches here such as Fingal Bay, Anna Bay and Boat Harbour there are sharks because that is open ocean. There are lifeguards on duty on those beaches though and they look out for sharks etc and swimmers caught in rips.

@carole_sandford Indeed, we used to stay away from the tourists beaches in Cyprus too, but at Akrotiri only Forces people were able to go on the beach because it was inside the Sovreign Base Area.

My daughter is going to Cyprus in June. I expect she will see quite a few changes since the late 80s.

I'm not much of beach sitter either- I'd rather walk or swim- but not on a hot day!
January 28th, 2023
A nice look at the beach action. I like the multicolored and patterned canopies and umbrellas. Much needed when the sun is very hot.

Looks a nice spot.
