Babs...this is such a lovely flower. Have never heard of it. Cool bugs!! A walking club sounds like so much fun!! You can combine your photography with it!!! I should look one up here...great idea. Great shot!! :)
@eyesmile Thanks Gena. The flannel flower is a native plant and grows in bushland mainly around Sydney but up as far as the Queensland coast. We live about 200 km north of Sydney.
You should join a walking group, they are great fun. Our group has around 20/30 people on each walk. We usually end with either lunch at a restaurant or a barbeque on the beach. Perhaps we should start with the lunch and then walk off what we have eaten!!!
@estherhelen@yaorenliu@iwatts@joeyc@sbolden@lafish@derekvickers Thank you all for your lovely comments. Flannel flowers are native and grow in the bushland. They have a lovely velvety feel to them and are my favourite native plants. @angelat Thanks Angela. I have been waiting for the flowers to appear to get a picture of them for my 365. The background on this shot is dead leaves. Very dry at the moment. We walked along the fire trails at Salamander Bay so hopefully it will rain soon to damp down the leaves and slow down any bush fires we may get.
@paulaw Thanks Paula. Flannel flowers are native and grow in bushland. I am not really a flower person, but I love flannel flowers. It is amazing how they grow in what is mainly just sand.
I did enjoy my Nanna nap. After a 2 hour walk in 28 degrees sun and then a lunch of calamari and salad, I needed a quiet half an hour to recharge my battery!!! The sun here gets pretty fierce (we are nearer the equator than you are in the UK).
