What a difference a day makes, yesterday was 30 degrees C and beautiful sunshine and today pouring with rain and thunderstorms and 20 degrees C.
As most of you will know I put a 'people' photo on here on a Friday and as today is Anzac Day I wanted to incorporate that into my picture today.
We went into Nelson Bay this morning with the idea of taking a photo of a person laying a wreath at the War Memorial. Unfortunately, as always seems to be the tradition here, it always rains on Anzac Day. Not only did it rain though, it absolutely bucketed down and we had a terrific thunderstorm too.
The actual parade was cancelled because of the weather and they held the service in the Nelson Bay Bowling Club.
This lovely chap agreed for me to take his photo to commemorate Anzac Day.
I went back to Nelson Bay early this afternoon and of course, the rain had gone and the skies were blue, so I took a photo of the newly erected war memorial in Apex Park. This was to be the first year to celebrate it being in its new location and unfortunately, the weather changed the plans.
Aah, Babs, seems you fared the same weather as us! We had a whopper storm this morning, the loudest thunder I've ever heard during a storm! Later that day blue sky, not a cloud in sight, crazy weather indeed! A great ANZAC day shot and that man sure seems like a nice fellow. :)
Fantastic photo's. The weather here was superb. I missed the parade because I had to work today.
Great portrait, I have a lot of respect and admiration for out ex and present servicemen. I even work with some of them.
Well done for asking someone to pose. I was less brave, and took photos of guys in the march instead. Pity about the weather there, as the new memorial looks very nice.
@elaine55 Thanks Elaine. He was a lovely chap. There were a few of them sitting together and they were disappointed that the weather had spoilt their march.
@ibt Thanks Ilona. The Anzac parade had to be postponed because of the weather and I wanted to show how it cleared up later in the day. Too late for the Anzac's though.
@karlow75 Thanks Kane. David always marched on Anzac Day when he was in the RAAF and usually got a soaking because it always seemed to rain. Glad he didn't have to march today now he is retired.
I think he was very pleased and proud to be asked for his photo. We have a tradition here to thank a vet on Remembrance Day Nov. 11. You did one better, Babs
@kathiecb Thanks Kathie. There were a group of chaps at the Bowling Club all expecting to be in the march, but it had to be cancelled because of the storm. I got chatting to them and asked if I could take their photos. This chap was the best. He was a lovely bloke.
He looks a warm friendly chap Babs and it was nice that he agreed to pose for you.
Once again we have a lot of changeable weather.
Great portrait, I have a lot of respect and admiration for out ex and present servicemen. I even work with some of them.
