Rainbow Chook by onewing

Rainbow Chook

This isn't the best picture in the world because the light wasn't too good but this is one of the chickens at Tocal yesterday.

A few people asked if the chickens in my collage yesterday were real and the answer is "Yes". They were in an enclosure with other animals designed to entertain children I think and someone had the idea of dying the chickens to make them more colourful. This one as you can see had the full treatment.

I will try and catch up with photos tonight. I did check out some today, but unfortunately, domestic things got in the way. I have been so far behind this last week with household chores because we had such a busy week, so today has been a washing and ironing day. Ugh!

Today's black and white photo

That poor silky chicken. What must it think of it all! But fun for the kids!

Hope they didn't suffer too much with all the handling. Has such gorgeous soft feathers :-)

She looks very glam but not really in agreement with dying chickens......makes an interesting picture!

I'm not sure I like the idea of dying chickens but I guess it does not actually harm them. They do look a bit fluffy.

Wonder what colour the eggs are? Great fun shot Babs.

I think I'm with Hazel, not sure it's very ethical to dye a chicken who can't say whether that's what it wants! But I agree it doesn't hurt, and it certainly looks funky!

@888rachel @hermann @annied @debilz @wanabe @karlow75 @beryl @happypat @quietpurplehaze @happysnap @kathiecb @dgrynn @lynnz @april16 @mcmary @almondjoy1 @lafish @golftragic @jackie8 Thanks everyone. I might add that apparently no chickens were harmed in the colouring. It was in a children's enclosure and was designed to make the kids smile I think. The chickens are resident at the agricultural college and I believe the dye they used is designed to wash off once it rains. I don't believe any chickens were harmed. I suppose it is more ethical to paint their feathers rather than lop their heads off and eat them.
