I have been wanting to do a low key photo for a while and at last I have managed it. The light was just right to get a shot of this chap at Tocal Homestead at the Peek into the Past open day on Sunday.
This chap is called Bob Skekton AKA The Minmi Magster and he entertained the visitors with his bush poetry and yarns. I took lots of photos of him and he wants me to email some to him so he can put them on his Facebook page. He is a really lovely chap and so entertaining.
I also thought this photo would be ideal for the black and white light and shadows theme.
I have had such an amazing response to this photo so far thank you so much. I thought I would attach a link to Bob reciting one of his poems at Tocal on a previous visit there. http://lewisart.biz/bobskelton/poetry13.html
Wonderful low key portrait Babs.......love that black background. I have never attempted anything like this but I am amazed how well his face shows even though it's a dark photo. The grey beard kelps of course...gives lots of character...fave!
@happypat Thanks so much for the fav Pat. I was so lucky that the natural sunlight made this shot possible. He was standing at the entrance to a wooden shed and it was dark behind him with the sunlight coming in from the side. He asked me if he could have some of my photos so I am going to email some to him. He is a lovely chap and quite a character. Here is a link to him reciting his poetry at a previous Tocal Field Day. http://lewisart.biz/bobskelton/poetry13.html
You know me, how could I go past a chap with a beard and not get a photo of him. ha ha.
@happypat I just seem to be drawn to men with beards to take photos of, I think they are more interesting somehow. Wouldn't fancy being married to a man with a beard though I must admit.
I ADORE this photo! The low key, monochrome, and I can practically hear him speak! Thanks, THANKS for snapping this and I'm going to read the details on the shot because I want to learn how to do this!!! Brava! and fav.
Thank you all so much for your lovely comments and favs. What a fantastic response to this shot.
This chap is so interesting, here is a link to one of his pervious visits to Tocal which is where I saw him on sunday. http://lewisart.biz/bobskelton/poetry13.html
