Helmets and Shields. by onewing

Helmets and Shields.

Another shot from the Celtic Festival on Saturday. The helmets are so heavy. I tried one on and nearly buckled at the knees.

My ancestors were Viking apparently and I thank God that I don't have to wear a helmet like this. My neck couldn't cope with the weight. If neck problems are hereditary, no wonder I have got neck troubles now if my lot had to wear this gear and chain mail too.
Great capture of helmets. you have some really interesting shots of the festival

Fab shot. I too have tried on a similar helmet in the not so distant past and wondered how they managed to fight with that thing on.

A lovely bright image. I agree about the helmets - but as members of the weaker sex we probably wouldn't have had to wear them anyway!

They did re-enactments at the festival too and these shields and helmets took quite a hammering. Good job they are quite tough.

@eyesmile Ha ha, Gena you are more of a 'Bitsa' than I am, Bitsa this and Bitsa that. What a heritage.

@fntngrma Thanks Rosan, yes it was fun.

@chimfa No shot of me wearing the helmet unfortunately. I was on my own there. Because I can't drive at the moment, and David had to be somewhere else, he dropped me off and then picked me up again later when I was Celted out.
