Rainbow Chook by onewing

Rainbow Chook

I photographed this rainbow chicken at Tocal Field Day on Sunday.

There were a whole bunch of colourful chickens, some were blue, some were yellow, some green etc. but this one was my favourite because it was rainbow.

It wasn't easy to get a photo of them all together because for one there were a whole bunch of kids around and also an enormous turkey was in the pen with the chickens and was strutting his stuff and spoiling the picture.
That's brilliant, I've never seen a chicken with so many colours before!

Can't believe it, why would a agricultural college contemplate doing such a thing, great capture Babs with lovely colour and fine detail, its just a little unsettling for me brought up on a traditional English farm:)

Wonderful, they have chooks painted here to for Fairs..

@beryl @pcoulson Good point, but I am sure she is much happier strutting around here with her friends than being plucked, decapitated and cooking in a pot at 200 degrees C.
May 3rd, 2016
She is very pretty and I agree she'd be much happier there than in someone's oven :)
May 3rd, 2016
Such a pretty girl!
May 3rd, 2016

@happypat Probably cheaper than mine Pat. Then again I don't use food colouring on my hair. Maybe I should give it a try.

May 3rd, 2016
Not sure I'm happy about the way this must've had to be done, but it certainly makes for a colourful chook
May 3rd, 2016
So interesting looking and pretty. I hope the dye doesn't hurt the chickens. Great capture.
May 3rd, 2016
That's Turkeys & kids for you. I've seen pink cockerels in Asia but never a rainbow chicken. Well spotted. (I've not seen a spotted one either).
May 3rd, 2016
That's amazing. I've seen fighting cockerels coloured yellow or pink, but never seen a great rainbow one before\!

for those who were concerned about the colouring on this chook, I am assured by the staff at the Agricultural College that no chooks were harmed during this process and I believe that it is just food colouring. It will wash off when she goes out in the rain.
After all us girls always love to have our hair coloured and be pampered so why not the chickens and I am sure we have all eaten cakes with food colouring on the icing and we are still here to tell the tale.
May 4th, 2016
@shirleybankfarm She does look as though she has been caught up in the colour run. Maybe she is a Hindu.
May 4th, 2016
@paulmann What is it they say, never with children or turkeys, ha ha. I think you only see the spotted chickens after a few drinks. :)
May 4th, 2016
Hell's bells Babs. If I saw a chook like that I'd be straight to Specsavers!!
