Zabote by onewing

Zabote

I have photographed this boat a few times over the last couple of years. It just sits on our closest beach, close to all the expensive boats at the marina.

I have no idea who it belongs to, but it has been here for a while, so think it must have been abandoned.

In the background is the Anchorage Resort where you can spend the night for between $250 and $450 for a standard room and considerably more for a suite.
Nice shot of it. Looks out of place in front of thoseexpensive houses

Good textures and I like the boat's name! Can feel that soft sand between my toes.

Love that boat, in fact I would be tempted to crop the modern houses out. Although if you've photographed it before, you probably have already done so.
September 9th, 2016
Looks a great boat for spiders and deterioration demanding the use of macro lens
September 9th, 2016
I love the white sand surrounding the dilapidated boat :)
September 9th, 2016
Great shot ! It has taken many on adventures I am sure.
September 9th, 2016
Looks like a wonderful old boat that probably has lots of great memories & stories. Would love to see it shot from the opposite side with the water as the backdrop :)
September 9th, 2016
That boat makes a great subject. It also looks like a great place to stay too.
September 9th, 2016
Of all the expensive boats on the beach I'd be drawn to this one too. Love the tired paintwork and how the sand has drifted around it like a sea. Not sure I'd be able to afford to step through the front door of the Anchorage Resort let alone spend the night there :D :D Nice capture :)

Nice pic! Wonder whats the story of poor little Zabotes' life...
September 9th, 2016
@777margo @yorkshirekiwi Thanks, they aren't houses in the background, it is a holiday resort at the marina. Yes Carole I have photographed the boat before without The Anchorage Resort in the background.
September 9th, 2016
@leggzy I'll post a view looking the other way along the beach tomorrow.
September 9th, 2016
Great shot, I don't imagine Zabote gets out much these days.
September 9th, 2016
@happysnaps I am sure you are right Valerie, but not for a while.
September 9th, 2016
Goes well with the houses behind it :)
September 9th, 2016
@paul10 Thanks Paul. Luckily I don't have to stay at the resort because I live about a five minute walk from here.
September 9th, 2016
@zeynab1992 I don't know its story, it has been here for quite a while though.
September 9th, 2016
Great shot of this lovely old boat, it looks there are other possibly abandoned items between it and the resort. The Anchorage sounds a bit out of my price range too :)
September 9th, 2016
Great shot Babs, I like that you included the houses in the background. :)
September 9th, 2016
I really like the absolute contrasts of the old & worn old/ abandoned boat with the modern luxury resort. Nice find.
September 9th, 2016
Looks in need of some TLC Babs. Great shot
September 9th, 2016
Great shot.
September 9th, 2016
Poor thing, definitely abandoned. Good that it gets your attention!
September 9th, 2016
Great capture.
September 9th, 2016
Super composition!
September 9th, 2016
Very cool looking boat!
September 9th, 2016
Wow! Great composition - looks amazing in all that sand!
September 9th, 2016
Wow. Nice shot
September 9th, 2016
Looks like Zabote has seen better days, quite a contrast between it and the posh resort.
September 9th, 2016
Neat shot, composition
September 9th, 2016
A lovely old boat and composition !
September 9th, 2016
Great shot, love the colours and that white sand
September 9th, 2016
lovely composition, I bet it's more photogenic than the pricier boats!
September 9th, 2016
Beautifully composed capture. lovely colours.
September 9th, 2016
A beautiful composition and capture
September 9th, 2016
Right on the beach, couldn't get anywhere nearer but you pay for the privilege! Worth it though for that gorgeous place. The boat looks patterned!
September 9th, 2016
The houses in the background look rather posh. Great textures in the old boat
September 9th, 2016
Ooh I thought it was snow at first. The boat makes for a very colourful image. Is it taken at night?
September 9th, 2016
It makes for a great subject. Excellent shot.
September 9th, 2016
Nicely captured. At first glance I thought it was snow til I realized it was beach. You can see where my mind is....ready for the heat to end.
September 9th, 2016
I like how you have the expensive resort in the background of the picture. It provides a stark contrast to the poor old weather beaten and somewhat neglected boat.
September 9th, 2016
@quietpurplehaze Thanks Hazel, the sand here is very white and soft, squeaky too.
September 9th, 2016
@ethelperry I'll take a closer look next time I walk past the boat
September 9th, 2016
@karlow75 Thanks Kane. The boat has been here for quite a while. The resort would be a good place to stay. Luckily I only live a few minutes walk from here so don't have to pay those prices.
September 9th, 2016
@merrelyn The other boats in the distance belong to the Port Stephens Outrigger Canoe club and they are in use every day.
September 9th, 2016
@novab I liked the juxtaposition of the dilapidated boat and the rather expensive resort in the background.
September 9th, 2016

@hermann @happysnaps @jodies @gilbertwood @thistle @leestevo @pusspup @gosia @leananiemand @bokehdot @karens54 @ochio @inthecloud5 @seattlite @beryl @craftymeg @cmp @pyrrhula @mittens Thanks. This little boat gets photographed quite often I think. I love the contrast between it and the rather expensive resort in the background. Luckily I don't have to pay the resort prices to stay here because I live just a few minutes walk from this beach.
September 9th, 2016
@jesperani It is more photogrenic, the expensive boats all look the same - white and bigger and bigger.
September 9th, 2016
@happypat Luckily I don't have to pay the prices to stay at the resort because I live just a few minutes walk from here.
The colours on the boat are from the different layers of paint over the years. It makes a lovely pattern now doesn't it.
September 9th, 2016
@salza The houses in the background are actually a resort and it is rather expensive to stay there.
September 9th, 2016
@busylady The sand here is very white and it does look like snow. The photo was taken just before sunset.
September 9th, 2016
@lynne5477 Thanks Lynne, the sand is very white here so I can see why you thought it was snow. Luckily we don't get snow here in our part of the world.
September 9th, 2016
@stephanies Thanks Stephanie, that is what I wanted to show, the contrast between the boat and the resort.
Luckily I don't have to pay the prices to stay at the resort because I live just a few minutes walk from here. This is our closest beach.
September 9th, 2016
what an amazing contrast. I love the colours on the beautiful white sand.
September 10th, 2016
Quite a contrast
September 10th, 2016
Pam
That is a wonderful photo!
September 11th, 2016
I love the contrast of old boat and new buildings plus the darkness of the trees and lightness of the sand.
September 11th, 2016
Lovely composition. Love that old boat & isn't the sand white !! Fav
September 11th, 2016
Lovely composition with the old boat, and nice building.
September 12th, 2016
Pricey overnight stay. Perhaps I could bring a sleeping bag and kip out in the boat. Would it be warm enough?
September 13th, 2016
I love this, the old and the new.
