Sitting on the Fence by onewing

Sitting on the Fence

I was doing a spot of gardening this morning when this female koel came to call.

I was lucky to capture this shot before she flew off as she was pretty nervous.
Great capture.

Excellent capture. If I'd been gardening I'd have had to run in the house to grab my camera! It would have been gone by the time I got back πŸ˜•

@paul10 It was quite a feat I can tell you. She was on the fence around the back of our house, so I didn't want to disturb her. I had to go out through the gate at that side of the house, in through the front door, pick up my camera and go out again through the study door. Luckily she hadn't moved.

@hrs Yes their tail feathers are the same as the kookaburras aren't they.

@susiemc @Cherrill @happypat @stephanies Thanks, they are cuckoo family and are quite naughty really because they leave their one egg in the nest of an unsuspecting bird and leave them to rear their offspring.
Koel's are migratory birds and appear about October time here in Australia and leave about March. http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/species/Eudynamys-orientalis
