Overseas Visitor

After yesterday's photo of the boat for sale, maybe this one is more in most people's price range.

It is a bit like from the sublime to the ridiculous.

This houseboat has travelled from the other side of the bay where it resides at Tea Gardens.

I have photographed it a few times in its original habitat on the Myall River but this is the first time I have seen it on this side of the bay.

Here are links to the same houseboat at Tea Gardens a couple of years ago.

December 27th, 2016
Quite delightful!
December 27th, 2016
Great capture it looks a little out of place against its posher friends :)
December 27th, 2016
Looks like it has had an extensions - and a phone box!
December 27th, 2016
Ah, see what you mean. I prefer this though, full of character
December 27th, 2016
Wow, these owners have been to the "secondhand dealer" & put together a very unique houseboat, shows just what you can do.....
December 27th, 2016
Oh my.......
December 27th, 2016
I love this Babs, so very quirky :)
December 27th, 2016
Well captured Babs, I haven't see it afloat in Nelson Bay before.
December 27th, 2016
Absolutely delightful -- without a care in the world as it floats amongst the rich "friends " !! Lots of loving care in putting this together -- even it's own phone booth !! --A lick of paint would not come amiss !! but then it would loose some of its character and quirkiness ! a big fav for putting a smile on my face !
December 27th, 2016
That is awesome, I love it!
December 27th, 2016
What a classic!

I'll bet it turned a few heads, definitely stands out from the crowd.

Classic example of cocking a snoop! Excellent!
December 27th, 2016
Love it, it has so much character 😀
December 27th, 2016
I was just about to write exactly the same as @merrelyn I think we all feel the same!
December 27th, 2016
Certainly has a lot of character
December 27th, 2016
Very cool -- looks much loved. And I love the contrast with the other more 'elegant' vessels.
December 27th, 2016
What a contrast
December 27th, 2016
Wonderful capture
December 27th, 2016
This is a fascinating boat - almost a floating garden shed!

I think this could be more in my league than yesterday's, still no harm in wishing!
December 27th, 2016
Great capture, details
December 27th, 2016
Awesome capture.
December 27th, 2016
Beautiful.
December 27th, 2016
A great view and shot of the harbour and house boat.
December 27th, 2016
Amazing it's still afloat, great capture!
December 27th, 2016
This has lots of character
December 27th, 2016
Much more interesting than the highly exxy Boys' Toy you posted yesterday. This one has lots of character, and some great rust to boot.
December 27th, 2016
looks a bit like its come all the way from Asia. I love it.
December 28th, 2016
Cute capture. It does look more affordable.
December 28th, 2016
great contrast picture to yesterday!!! I love it that you can still find make do boats like this.
December 28th, 2016
Someone likes it Babs, and it look liveable, great shot.
December 28th, 2016
@yaorenliu It is brilliant isn't it. I don't think the two chaps who own it will be parting with it though.
December 28th, 2016
@annied Definitely, I love it. Beats all the rich relations boats in the area.
December 28th, 2016
@julzmaioro There are lots of houseboats on the Myall River too.
December 28th, 2016
@dawnee @busylady @yorkshirekiwi @happysnaps @quietpurplehaze @hermann @jodies @pusspup @gamelee @s4sayer @merrelyn @happypat @moonmtn @taffy @bkbinthecity @lynne5477 @fishers @seattlite @danette @sdutoit @pyrrhula @craftymeg @adayinmallacoota @cruiser @mittens @tonygig Thanks. I love this houseboat. It usually resides on the other side of the bay at Tea Gardens and only visited Nelson Bay briefly.
The two old gents who own it have a lovely time sailing along the Myall Lakes. I see that there have been one or two additions since I last photographed it a couple of years ago.
Can you spot the changes. http://365project.org/onewing/topics/2014-10-19
December 28th, 2016
What a fabulous looking house boat!
December 28th, 2016
@rjb71 Thanks Richard. It stands its ground very well against the posh boats.
December 28th, 2016
@jeneurell It has had a few additions since I last photographed it.
December 28th, 2016
@bugsy It was only here briefly Heather. It parked next to the police boats.
December 28th, 2016
@beryl Glad it put a smile on your face Beryl. I think it puts a smile on lots of faces when they see it too. Its owners have just as much character as the boat does.
December 28th, 2016
@inthecloud5 Even this one wouldn't be cheap. Houseboats in this area cost a bob or two. Not as much as yesterday's boat though. I don't think the owners of this would be willing to part with it though. It is quite a conversation piece in our area.
December 28th, 2016
@golftragic It is brilliant isn't it. I would love it. You can keep all the post boats, this is my favourite.
December 28th, 2016
@golftragic PS Even David should manage not to turn green sailing on this one either.
December 28th, 2016
@hrs There are lots of houseboats in this area and all have such character. I think this one wins hands down though.
December 28th, 2016
@kjarn It is a beauty isn't it, I love it, such character.
December 28th, 2016
Well captured I just Fav it
December 28th, 2016
Wow! Talk about "Do It Yourself" carpentry! It is amazing it floats and has held together so well. You have to admire the ingenuity and creativity that went into constructing this. Good shot!
December 28th, 2016
Pam
Good shot!
December 28th, 2016
Lol, what a contrast to yesterdays boat.... like Ann says I am surprised it stays afloat... and is the name of it Mayday? as in the distress signal?? Another great capture Babs!
