After a GP appointment this morning to pick up all my test results I was planning on having a quiet day, but it didn't happen.
It got a bit hectic at our house with friends dropping in at intervals during the day.
I took this photo yesterday on our way back from hospital in Newcastle. The rain bucketed down while we were at The Mater and luckily it stopped while we walked back to the car, but by the time we had driven as far as Kooragang Island the heavens opened again (which is where this shot was taken). Rained on and off all the way home.
this captures the heaviness of the cloud cover and the horrid murkiness which it brings.. loving the larger raindrops as they splat against the windscreen.. a great piece of artistry..
take care...
@stray_shooter@olenadole@ethelperry@nicolecampbell@beryl@gilbertwood@sarahlth@littleconnie@adayinmallacoota@jorlam Thanks. It got much worse than this at one stage. This was when the wipers were on normal speed and David had to increase them to 'going like the clappers' at one point. Luckily it didn't last long like that. It doesn't matter how hard the rain is, you always get some fool who overtakes you and drives too fast. We saw a few of those on the way home. David calls them TA's (temporary Australians)
@gigiflower It has been very warm here too and only started to rain a couple of days ago, much needed though. Still pretty warm but the humidity is 81%
@rookynook Although the rain is pretty heavy it was much needed. It has been so dry here. Still pretty warm though even though it is Autumn and about 27 degrees C, the problem is the rain has increased the humidity to 81% which is a bit much. No crawling under the duvet at these temperatures, we just put the aircon on.
we would love some rain like that in Adelaide. I was born at another Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Crows Nest, Sydney Hazel @quietpurplehaze It was established in 1906 by the Sisters of Mercy and closed in 1982.
1921 marked the beginning of the Newcastle Mater Misericordiae Hospital and the provision of health care by the Sisters of Mercy, (Singleton) for the people of Newcastle.
On 1 July 2007, the hospital changed its name from Newcastle Mater Misericordiae Hospital to Calvary Mater Newcastle. The hospital continues to provide services to the community in the Catholic tradition.
@peterday Sorry Peter, I wouldn't go back to the UK to live if my life depended on it. Only been back once and that was in 1994, it was a bit of a culture shock then. Never fancies going back since.
@paul10@cmp@megpicatilly Thanks. We really needed the rain. It is still wet today too. test results are all in now and I just have to wait to see the surgeon on the 12 April to see where we go from here. At least I have answers now and can move forward.
@pcoulson No, not driving, I am just the photographer. It got much worse than this as we drove home and the wipers increased from normal speed to 'going like the clappers'
You always get one idiot though who overtakes you in rain like this. David calls them TA's (temporary Australians)
@olivetreeann@stephanies@busylady Yes we really needed the rain, but the humidity is the problem now, still pretty warm around 27 degrees C today so the rain has made it really humid.
Having seen the weather forecast last night I thought you were in for a bucketing. Love this shot of scary-heavy rain on the windscreen. Pity it was so heavy, doesn't soak in does it? We got a very small sprinkle last night, and need heaps more.
We had 68 mms at Mapleton the other night - we needed it as the grass was starting to die off and as we are on tank water it doesn't get watered at all. Love your photo and hope that all is well with your tests.
take care...
OK, yes got it, Chris, thank you.
