Continuing my railway theme of photos taken at the Steamfest last weekend here is another of the trains that was doing trips over the weekend. This train is called the Red Rattler.
Developed from an effort by the NSW Government Railways to increase aluminium construction skills, the 621/721 spent all of their service life on Hunter passenger services from 1961-2007. Affectionately known as the Red Rattler, this diesel powered engine has been restored by the Rail Motor Society and has been preserved in its home, the Hunter Region.
Lovely capture in fine detail and colour nice to know the humble diesel has not been neglected by the Rail Motor Society looks so well restored they have done it proud, thanks for sharing it with us Babs:)
Great to see such excellent restoration true to the original. Melbourne had red rattlers, but much older than this one. I remember travelling on them as a young kid and they stayed in service for yonks after that.
If you were near enough, I'd teach you to play the piano - you're never to old to learn in my book!
