We have been out all day with the walking group and out for lunch. It has been a really hot day and I have come home with a splitting headache. I think it is coming from my neck. Carrying my camera bag and a water bottle doesn't help my neck. I think I need an assistant to carry my belongings for me, ha ha. Either that or a neck transplant.
We have a busy week ahead so for the next week I am going to post photos of some of the people at the Steampunk Festival in Goulburn, hope you enjoy them. I took so many photos I really have to share them with you. Some of the outfits are amazing.
Here you can see a Harry Potter theme, I believe these people are from Slytherin ( the chap in green) and Ravenclaw (the lady in blue). They said there were two others from Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, but I didn't see them.
Brilliant- I too love the steampunk outfits! And I also suffer with my neck carrying my DSLR around - an old whiplash injury. Hence most of my pics are taken with my phone!
I can see the steampunk theme here - imaginative creates the unexpected. Now Babs, sit down, relax those stiff shoulders, take a deep breath and just don't converse for 20 minutes. Concentrate on yourself. Works with headaches - hopefully.... or else just swallow the pain killers!
Ooh poor you. My physio suggested a rucksack and I now carry my camera on a diagonal strap, so no pressure on my neck. Hope headaches gone and how do I get job of your assistant??
Impressive outfits and extrovert characters captured in wonderful colour and detail, thinking about your neck problem I find a small rucksack helps to spread the load, something to consider Babs:)
Fab costumes -- I have a friend who is into Steampunk - he seems to eat and breath it ! Sorry re your headache and neck pains -- I can empathise with you as I suffer with spondylitis in the neck area (and lower back) and now just carry any bags etc cross shoulder !
Steam Punk is an amazing festival, these are marvelous costumes. Have you considered a cross body bag? The weight is in front with that type of bag. Of course they are usually quite small so you couldn’t carry a wide assortment of lenses. Another thing I do when my neck gives me fits is go to a massage therapist. I hope you find relief soon.
You are always so busy - don't forget to build in some restoration time for yourself! These folks have gone to an awful lot of effort with their costumes. Love the big book too.
Your poor neck -I use a sling type bag- am looking forward to seeing more of these steampunk photos -I have never heard of them b4 365 -looks like so much fun
@maggiemae Ha ha, yes Auntie Maggie I did sit down and relax for a while as you suggested. I had a couple of cups of tea and drank plenty of water, that always clears my head. Thought I might be peeing all night but I was fine. It was a very hot day and I think along with carrying my camera and water I still got a bit dehydrated.
@casablanca My neck is much better today, I had a quiet night.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I think I will look for a different bag, that may help. As long as you are breathing you can qualify to be my assistant, ha ha. You may need a packed lunch to get here though. David usually makes a good assistant but he veered off with another walker and I didn't see him again until we got back to the pup for lunch.
@pcoulson I am going to take a rucksack next time we are on the walks. I think it was a combination of camera and a really hot day that gave me the headache.
@chimfa Thanks Jane, it was a fabulous festival. I got a bit upset at one point because I could just see Zoe dressed up like this. Can you just see Zoe wearing this lady's outfit. This kind of festival would have suited her down to the ground.
What fantastic costumes and poses. I don't know much about Harry Potter, but I love her dress! I switched to a diagonal strap last year and that's been such a great switch not only for my neck but for my back too. I've also had the same experience- a hot day and not enough water resulted in a mild case (although it didn't feel like it was mild) of heat stroke. Glad to see it's all settled down now. Great shot!
