Such a fabulous shot and view. I agree with you re living there, although it must be amazing to hear the ocean at night. That beach does look very narrow in front of the houses.
You show the waterline really well in your photo. One of the boats is about to climb up the stairs. Their flood insurance must be going through the roof.
I must admit I would be keeping my eye on that water but I suppose after time you get blasé & confident that it never comes too far. I like that you never have to walk far out to the waters edge unlike here which has a greater variation of tides.
Oh what a beautiful shot. We’ve just cancelled our beach holiday this year, and live right in the middle of the country, so I’m proper jealous of your access to the sea. 😊
@kjarn The ocean side is the back of their houses and the road is on the front of their houses so they don't have much of a garden on either side. When we first moved here from Melbourne 24 years ago most of the houses along this stretch of the beach were just fishing shacks or holiday beach huts. Times change.
@ludwigsdiana@salza@katford@yaorenliu@maggiemae@jamibann@happypat@tinley23 As I said to Kathy the houses along this stretch of beach were just beach shacks and fishing huts when we first moved here. I think these days though, if you can afford a property on the beach you don't worry too much about the occasional flooding.
I wouldn't like a house this close to the water because not only do you have the risk of king tides you also have people walking along the beach past your house all the time so there is no privacy. This is the back of their houses and on the other side is the road so close to the houses so they have traffic noise too. I much prefer my cul-de-sac house hidden in among the trees as you can see in yesterday's photo, not overlooked by anyone, on higher ground and yet still only 300 metres from the beach.
Those buildings do seem to be too close to the waterfront for their comfort. That would not be a problem here because in the Mediterranean we have no tide and the fluctuation of the sea level is only a few inches.
Ha ha, me either! I would love to live along a shoreline but I think a Queenslander house would suit it better to lift you off the ground, or living on a slope! Lovely shot
It must be lovely to be on the waterfront like that, but perhaps a little too close for comfort. At least the property is not going to fall off a cliff due to erosion like many on the coastline here in UK.

Very pretty scene!
What a fabulous location to live in though. Lovely shot.

A lot of people love to live there. We have stop building more houses on the sea front.
