This year I am adding another folder to focus on a monthly topic and for the month of January all the photos are of street art.
Most of the photos this month were taken in and around Newcastle, but there will be a couple from other areas of Australia too and I will let you know where they are.
This photo was taken of street art next to a car park on King Street in Newcastle.
There are some fantastic works scattered around the city and it was fun walking round and finding them all.
This looks fantastic Babs - what lovely street Art - i love graffiti / street art like this, compared to the mindless Graffiti we also see.
Interestingly I live in Newcastle Under Lyme, England, and we have a King Street with a car park too (well, not that interesting but you know what I mean :-) ).
@iwatts Thanks Ian. I love graffiti too when it is done properly and Newcastle is full of such exhibits. There was a competition recently where street artists painted some of their artworks on the walls in Newcastle. It was called "Hit the Bricks" and some of their works will be shown this month.
You will have to wander around Newcastle Under Lyme and see if there are any interesting artworks there and we can compare notes.
@sunraye@mcmary Thanks Raye and Mary. I am not a fan of graffiti when it is just scribble, but these shots are true artworks I think. There was a festival recently in Newcastle called Hit the Bricks where street artists were let loose on the streets of the city to create artworks. Some of their works will be shown this month during my topic. Others were already there on the walls of Newcastle. I really enjoyed wandering round capturing the photos.
What a great idea Babs...especially since there are so many opportunities You should make a calendar and/or coffee table book of your favorites....they would make excellent gifts!! Love the colors in this one. So much talent out there!!!
