Waiting for the moon! - Boat Harbour by onewing

Waiting for the moon! - Boat Harbour

I took this photo a while ago when a group of us went to Boat Harbour to get shots of the full moon. As you can see, it didn't appear.

What we did see though were two whales swimming by. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough to get a photo of them either.

I just loved the lighting in this shot as the sun was setting behind me and gave it a golden glow.

If you look closely you will see a fisherman on the rocks and it looks as though the gulls were waiting for the moon to appear too.

Today's main album photo

@princessm Thanks. I agree you can see more detail viewed large.

@wanabe Thanks Meredith. We may not have seen the moon but the evening wasn't entirely wasted, I did get a couple of shots.

@tryingforsighs We are lucky here that the whales come up and down the coast from Antarctica twice a year and put on a really good show as they go by. They go north to give birth and then home again with their young.
@netkonnexion Thanks so much for dropping by. Sorry I didn't get a shot of the whales though.

@kezza1319 Thanks Kerry.

@chimfa Thanks Jane, do you think they were looking out for whales too!

@hermann Thanks Sally. the lighting was wonderful and when I turned round the most amazing sunset was behind me too.

@huvesaker Thanks Boo. We are lucky that dolphins live here permanently and we get to see whales twice a year for quite a few weeks at a time. They are amazing.

@terryliv Thanks Terry

@dolphin Thanks Molly. This is a lovely part of our coastal peninsula to walk. Where I live is on the bay side and this is on the ocean proper side. We always spot something interesting,

So what you're saying is this isn't a pic of the moon or whales. Super shot. Love the light on the rocks.
