This sculpture is at Gundagai close to where the dog sat on the tuckerbox. There are a few sculptures around, but the lighting wasn’t too great to get a decent photo of them. This was the best angle I could get of this one.
I am not sure if he has chains on his ankle because he is supposed to be a convict, or if it to stop him being stolen.
I knew there were lots of used for bits of rust. Love sculptures of this kind.
Fantastic shot. My hunch is the chain is to stop him wandering off during the night (looks a bit lacking in rust) - though maybe just a "modern" convict of sort. :)
@pcoulson Thanks Peter. Yes it was pretty dry at the time. I took this in January at Gundagai on our way home from Melbourne and it was about 42 degrees this day. They hadn't had rain for weeks.
@kathiecb I think he is a bitsa - bits a this and bits a that. Maybe he is a barbequing blacksmith convict who is chained up so he can't nip off to the pub.
@golftragic Yes it does. They put these sculptures right in the middle of an area with a car park next to it. Maybe I should go back again now and take another photo, not the tourist season at the moment.
@almondjoy1 Sorry Joy doesn't it drive you mad when you get a song stuck in your head. You've started me off again now. ha ha.
