Today’s photo is outside a shop in Morpeth as you can see called Morpeth Bears, it is a beautiful shop selling old and new teddy bears and gollywogs. The prices are a bit imaginative though!
I love teddy bears and gollywogs and always preferred them to dolls when I was a child. I was never a dolly person. I still have my very first teddy bear from when I was a child. It is a bit rough round the edges now though, but still with me.
Called vintage Babs ....makes such a difference to the price! Love the old fashioned pram! Love the old golly wig sitting there...I only ever see them in NZ now , they are banned in our stupid over the top PC country....might cause offence!!!
@happypat That must be why they are pricey in this shop. We can get gollywogs here, they were a bit un PC for a while but it seems to have settled down again now.
I used to love Noddy books when I was small and never thought that the gollywogs were supposed to be black people, I never thought that Noddy and Big Ears had homosexual tendencies either, ha ha. Even when Big Ears asked Noddy if he could ring his bell. ha ha. ding dong!
@onewing it's all ridiculous nonsense you have to be so careful these days.......my age group just never noticed all these supposedly offensive alternative meanings!
Hahaha,, absolutely love your comments on Noddy & Big Ears!! Sometimes "vintage" plus "tourist" does equate to ridiculous prices. Apparently people don't think about spending issues when on holidays. Great shot. :)
Wonderful capture, beautiful details and focus could read all the text on the sign, like you babs I was never a dolly person and action man had not been invented;)
@darthkitty You are right, they are definitely aiming at a tourist market.
@quietpurplehaze Glad it made you chuckle Hazel. I think some people need to lighten up these days, they are far too sensitive. I must be getting old.
@888rachel We can get golliwogs quite easily here. I have got a few in my collection. I just love them.
@chimfa Not only Teddy who is a bit rough round the edges though Jane. ha ha.
@huvesaker I made gollywogs for my kids too when they were little.
@pcoulson Good to know you weren't a dolly person either Peter. I was more football boots, cowboys and Indians and marbles. Always a bit of a tomboy.
@golftragic It's a lovely place to browse Marnie, but only browse. Some of the prices are very imaginative. I think they must be smoking illegal substances if they think they can sell at those prices.

@happypat I know Pat. don't get me started on the PC rubbish.
@hermann Thanks Sally I love the pram too.
