Thanks you everyone who commented on my month of evening and night shots during September and for putting quite a lot of the photos on the Trending Page and the Popular Page. I was thrilled to see that they were so popular.
This month I am posting photos of suburbs again and I am starting the month with Maitland and the second half of the month will be Tea Gardens.
Maitland is a city in the Lower Hunter Valley of New South Wales and is about an hour away from where I live.
The city centre is located on the right bank of the Hunter River, protected from potential flooding by a levee.
The area of Maitland was originally settled by farmers from the early 1800s. The majority of Maitland, including its High Street, grew without apparent planning giving the town its great charm.
Landmark buildings erected over 170 years ago stand alongside fine modern buildings, a harmonious mix of new and old.
Today's photo is of Maitland Town Hall, but unfortunately, I have had a lot of trouble trying to find anything about its history. It is a magnificent building though situated on the main High Street in the centre of Maitland.
