I took a knife to a gun party! I went to the top of Mt. Helix to get a shot of the moon tonight. There were loads of photographers there with there super zoom lenses! This is a shot with my kit lens. Highly processed and cropped to get some kind of detail out of it! Oh, well! I had to post this to record this day!
Thank you all so much for the comments and favs on my last pic! I really appreciate it!
great shot, Jerry! know what you mean about the photogs and their superduper shazam lenses... there were several on top of the landfill site i was at as well! (my moon shots were epic fails and i didn't bother to post them ;p)
Haha! Your knife comment made me laugh. Like @tanja_1211 said, my super moon shot isn't any better. Did bracket one shot, so I'll see if I can get better detail through HDR. My first attempt was a fail...will put more effort in tomorrow.
I practiced last night and totally over exposed it. Strange as I got a good shot last month. I'm off to try again now, the moon is just coming over the mountains... Would have loved to have seen all the photogs with their big lenses! That would have made a great shot.
sometimes those fancy lenses weigh you down, cost a lot, and still get you to the same point. I would have cracked up if you had taken out your iPhone for the photo on that hill
@monika64 That info could have been handy! ...maybe! ;o) @juliakan It's so much harder than I thought! I thought I would go, take a couple shots, then leave... Not! @boycotting Thanks for the encouragement, Justin! @cmc1200 Good luck! I had the same thought, after I merged them the shot was so grainy! Clearly something I need to work on! :) @definitelydeb That was a good plan! At least I can check this of the list! @sheliwithani I originally wanted to shoot it over the ocean but there was total cloud cover here too! I ended up driving east until the sky cleared up. It was still hazy tho! @tanja_1211 Your too kind! ;) @kiwichick Funny you said that! I saw how my luck was going so I gave up and started shooting the people and trees! :o) Good luck with your attempt tonight! @brumbe Lol! Funny! I might have gotten a better shot! ;)
Your knife beats their gun! The equiptment doesn't maketh the man(whoops, you know what I mean!) I tried some shots last night and I just got it all wrong, so I checked out your exif and learned a few tips....thankyou!
There were many cameras out shooting the moon tonight! Will be interesting to see all the different views...I am just glad to have had a decent photo for a change...great photo for you!
Fabulous photo Jerry. All we had were clouds so no fancy photos taken here today! The detail is wonderful :) Know what you mean about others fancy kit, when I'm there with my Sony, sometimes feel like I may as well be standing there with a tissue box with a camera pattern painted on!!
At least you got a sht! We had THE worst weather last night and there was no way to even attempt to get a shot! Maybe I'll try tonight. I think your processing looks great!
Jerry, I feel your pain...I had already promised to babysit for my friends so they could have a date night last night, and was only able to do my shots from their front yard...I had such grande plans too... but hey, I got it! Love your capture!
@kamb Lol! That's what they say, anyway! ;) @ladydi53 I can't wait to check yours out! @emmaroobers Lol! That is so funny! :D @jdr4690 Me too! @aspada Thank you, Amy! I had to drive way inland to get away from all the clouds! @nikkic I can't wait to check your out! I might need some lessons! ;) @bobbyj That's crazy to think about! @maggie2 Thanks Maggie! @salza Thank you, Sally! :) @socalgal I really wanted the downtown skyline or the Coronado bridge in the pic but the weather wasn't having it!
However you look at it, it is still a great shot. Mine looks like the size of a pea. (haven't posted it yet) But it was a beautiful night to enjoy the moon.
It looks like a moon to me! I like taking isolated moon shots and would like a super zoomer but last night I found taking the moon with the horizon and forground quite a challenge!!
@michaelelliott Oh, no! I missed your Bday! Hope you had a good one, Michael! Happy Birthday! (better late then never!) @espyetta Thank you, Marybeth! :)

Random question - where'd all your pics go?
@espyetta Thank you, Marybeth! :)
