Now I know...after a year and a half I finally understand when you say you've hit a wall and lost your mojo! I don't know what it is lately but I just can't seem to get the shot! What do you do to break out of this funk! I think I need a little group hug and some time alone this weekend with my best friend 7D! Miss you all! Promise to get back in the grove soon!
Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I had a great day! You guys are the best! :)
i'm a firm believer in the cyclical nature of being... today a slump, tomorrow a peak... don't angst over it... you'll be back in form soon enough... altho, to be honest, looking at this shot i have to ask myself if i could possibly have a slump like yours? pretty please with sprinkles on it?
I think its just a state of mind and doesn't actually reflect in the quality of the photos, this is beautiful!
PS I'm in the same place and feel like I'm taking crap photos but they're probably as good/bad as usual. I'm in the group hug too (((())))
((((((((big hug)))))))))) but my friend, you always manage to catch the shot!! This is stunning, I can hear the sounds of the water rippling. Alas I totally know the feeling all too well!! Sometimes I pull something out of the archives and have a re-do, play with it. It's actually what I did tonight for todays shot :o)
Wow, this is amazing Jerry! I've been in the same slump as you several times. For me these slumps happen when I just don't have enough time because of work. Then there is the notion that I'm just repeating myself. Have you tried the 'get-pushed" challenges? I'm finding them very inspirational. I got a comment this week from a long time 365 friend who said she would never have guessed the photo I posted was mine. It was a photo I would never have taken without the challenge.
Happy belated birthday! BEER WEEK! Your shots continue to be so inspiring and if you're in a slump it doesn't show. But I know the feeling, especially this week!
Lost your Mojo, eh....sure it isn't the effects of "beer week"?!
Or was it the birthday that threw you into a tailspin???
Nonetheless Jerry, this is a beautiful shot. Love the glistening water, silhouettes and beautiful blue sky & clouds. Hang in there...seems the time change has affected many of us! :)
Jerry you do well in a slump! This is very pretty. I think your idea about staying alone with the 7D is a good one. Change the lens for one you haven't used in a while. Walk around and look... Don't expect to find anything in particular. Appreciate the world around you. It will love you back :)
Awww *hugs* Also going through a slump. I put mine down to dark nights, gloomy weather and never getting home early enough to take decent outside shots. Creativity will hopefully return. Btw, your slumpy photos are looking really very fine to me (and to everyone else it would seem) :o) xx
For a slump day, this is pretty awesome! Luckily my 365 is mostly about the children and how they are growing up, and they're always about to photograph! although I know lots of the shots I'm not very pleased with at least it acts as a diary of what they are doing. Your mojo will be back in no time! x
you havnt lost your mojo :) I think I have since the poor light, short days and almost no sun is just not inspiring at all to take photos that I myself would be satisfied with. This one though is a FAV !
What! Is this a no mojo shot?
Anyway - hugs Jerry! Take your friend (7D) out and have fun! I have no recipe for you - I haven't taken a photo for a ... oh, I don't dare to say it out loud :P
I like your shot and title :) Ahhhh what do you do? I just drag my feet through it lol. Then one day that light comes back on. Sometimes just looking at shots from others but not here... like FB pages or the likes gives me ideas for later. I don't look for them but ya know, when looking at photos some jump out and I think oh I must try that one day and then others just morph out of nowhere and smack me in the head lol. Hope you feel better after the weekend :)
Gorgeous, as usual! I blame it on the shortness of days, with the lack of natural light, and cooler temps. Who wants to go out in that? The mojo will return, I have no doubt - for all of us who are going through the same thing.
Well if this is your version of losing your mojo, I'd gladly settle for it!
Not nice for you to feel that way, even so. Hope it feels right for you again soon.
Jerry - FAV!!! Hugs!!!! Love your work. Get what you're saying though, I've been digginf for inspiration lately too. Have fun this weekend with your friend! :-)
Oh blimey - this would be my 'nailed it' shot! I used to change lenses when I got stuck but now I only have one (though I think that may be rectified for my birthday when I've decided which one!) Keep going or book a holiday - that usually helps!
Well, it might not be perfect to you but I think it's awesome! And, how I wish I could enjoy that scenery! Hope you get some photo time this weekend. It's a fav for me.
I really like the shot and so you go from good to brilliant - doesn't sound like a slump to me. Just checking - you are still planning on setting up a camera settings challenge right? Not trying to rush you or anything just checking.
i totally get it, however, i'll take your "slump" pictures any day! if i take another picture of the beach i'm going to scream. when i cannot take another sunset, i photograph people. i find that portraits really energize me!
STUNNING PERFECT AMAZING HIGH END ART PHOTO JERRY!
Shoot with wild reckless abandon, Jerry! Shoot like a mad man, don't think, just take action.
Its not a new concept, I actually paid $495 to learn this. LOL
We learned correct and creative exposure, and then on one assignments in the course, we just had to shoot without a thought, just run free without thinking perfection, and its SOOOOOO fun,
and now, I do it all the time and I do it on auto and in manual.
I even do it for very tedious images on white for amazon.
Everything I shoot is wild, free, easy, fun.
No bad hair days.
Think WILD and FREE.
And DO electrolytes!
I recommend, NUUN. 3 calories, and it'll get you going and feeling hyped.
Totally relate to those words, Jerry! Right now I'm trying to get some holiday photo sales finalized so no time for camera for 365! When I was collecting my older photos it gave me inspiration for new ideas. So, sometimes you have to look back to move forward - just a thought!
Right...? This shot is stunning... I would say go wherever this shot was taken and it will inspire you... or me... it would inspire me! Push through, you are obviously just moving through something that will be incredible on the other side.
Beautiful shot Jerry... I think we all get it now and then... I just keep taking shots and work through the rubbish until i find something that sets me alive again.
Jerry, I just have to say while I don't comment as much as I did on your photo's it is not because I am not looking, I check them out all the time. Your skill is beyond amazing, every picture you post is fantastic and I browse your album's all the time. Your creativity inspires me every day, you are one of my top photographers whose work I love and that's not only within the 365 walls. Should you ever leave 365 please let me know where I can further stalk and view your magical photography :D Happy belated birthday! fav!
Take your camera with you wherever and whenever you go!! The picture will come and find you!! It seems to always work for me...i never leave home without it...never...And then have a beer!!!
Hi Jerry, I feel exactly the same at the moment. Working hard and just no time. I need to disappear to fabulous locations and maybe meet up with those great friends on 365. Is it ok to virtually hug another bloke ;-))

Well, I don't agree with you -- your photos always have so much interest and character. And you struck gold on this shot. Wow, breathtaking and a fav. Hugs, too!
It happens to all of us! I think I will feel glad once the project is over, the pressure of getting up a daily photo can be too much sometimes! At any rate, this is a beaut of a photo, so don't feel to bad!
aw this is lovely Jerry! I have struggled for quite some months now but feel i am getting out of it now having had a complete week off with no posting, commenting, or looking at 365, I think i was getting down because i wasn't having enough time to keep up with everyone as well as not having the motivation to shoot 'interesting' stuff. i have let all that go now and feel better about it :) I think you have had so much good advice already that you are probably already over it anyway :)
Jerry, this looks like a post card! It's really lovely and peaceful. Gosh, I wonder if it's just October / November. I missed about 2 weeks at the end of October and had to play catch up. Mel's @emjay8 advice sounds really good, too. Let it all go and spend time with your good friend 7D and you'll get your mojo back.
this looks like a post card jerry! i love the shimmer of the water and the compostion with the trees. gorgeous. it doesnt look like you lost your mojo to me, lol., your shots are always so stunning. Dont worry, i lost my mojo a long time ago, lol, and year three has been quite a challange for me! buuuut, im trying to stick it out and keep going bc i love everyone here to much to quit :)
HUGS FOR YOU!!! KEEEEEEEEEEEP GOOOOOOOING :)
I'm on that wall with you Jerry. Although I've still been taking photos, I just can't seem to keep up. Too busy holidaying, but I am Finally At The Beach! Happy Birthday, sounds like I missed that. I hope you had a fun day. One thing I've noticed that's good for the mojo is a change of scenery. Good luck with getting some more shots soon, I look forward to seeing them.
happy birthday, btw!
PS I'm in the same place and feel like I'm taking crap photos but they're probably as good/bad as usual. I'm in the group hug too (((())))
I think your shots are more than awesome, so don't be too harsh on yourself! :) This one is sooo awesome, Fav:)
