We just got back from our weekend trip to LA. We started off at the AmericanGirl shop for the birthday girl. If you don't know what AmericanGirl is, it's a doll and you can match them to look just like you (if your a little girl). There is a place to get thier hair done, ears pierced, even a facial! After that you can get them an outfit, or two, or three and have tea! Just the place for a grown man! :o) After four hours, this was just what I needed! :P
We stayed in Beverly Hills at this hip hotel! This is a shot of the bar down stairs! Beverly Hills with three girls...I got to know this place well! >;)
Yes, I had my eye opening experience with the American Girl Doll this past Christmas. They are really pretty cool, but for a Grand Daughter who is about to grow out of dolls, just couldn't see it. Nice shot here jerry
@phillyphotos Oh you know my pain! Valium! I knew I was missing something! @digitalrn They are cool! Pricey too! I had the same thoughts about my daughter turning 11! I was thinking, she will be over them soon! Good thing she has a younger sister to pass it down to! :)
@orangecrush we have four little girls in my family and they all have dolls and go and get the hair done on their birthdays each year. I need a valium just listening to it all.
The grand escape at the end of a hard day :D You are a no.1 dad, Jerry! You didn't't take any photos in the store did you? I'm curious now about this doll!
@amyspada I did! About 250! :o) I'll find one to post to give you an idea. It's two stories and huge so I hope I have one that will give a good feel for it.
Lol! I had a feeling you might be headed there!! I can tell you my husband and son felt your pain a few years ago...my daughter's Make A Wish trip was to the American Girl Place in New York :) I have photos of them sitting, not so patiently, in the hallway!
My daughter is a fanatic and turning 15 this week, still hasn't out grown them. She loves the historical dolls...I can justify for the historical lessons she has learned...right! :)
And Jerry, I can tell you from experience...if this was her first trip there, it will never be forgotten! WTG Dad!!!
you should be nominated for a 'great dad' award. my grand daughters are very into these dolls, too. the felicity doll was 'born' the same year as our felicity; guess who she has, and it looks just like her, too. mila created one that looks just like her. they are both 11 this year and no hope in sight of them out-growing it any time soon. they just keep adding to their wardrobes and accessories.
Love the designs in the photo and feel your pain of the experience. My husband and I went to the American Girl store in Chicago shortly after our first granddaughter was born. We were both pretty overwhelmed just walking around. We grabbed a Bitty Baby and bolted - probably to the nearest bar!
@tctime What a great memory! This was my daughters second time there! She had to get one of the dolls that look just like her! It wasn't so bad! I love watching her get so excited and I had my camera with me to help with the entertainment! :o)
