Antony Gormley by orchid99

Antony Gormley

A couple of days ago, I heard the sculptor Antony Gormley speaking about his new installation "Land." It's to mark the 50th year of The Landmark Trust and five sites have been chosen, mainly coastal. I completely failed to notice that one of them is on the South Stratford Canal, in Lowsonford in Warwickshire.

I was invited to an art exhibition near Henley in Arden by a friend from the gym, who is an excellent watercolourist. I spent a marvellous couple of hours at the Old Barn, and then went up to the Preston Bagot church which has some magnificent Burne Jones windows. Blips firmly in the bag, I popped back to thank the lovely lady who owns the exhibition space. That's when she told me about the Antony Gormley sculpture which is in a nearby village.

So I went.

There were lots of people there - including the inevitable selfie merchants. It stands by Lengthman's Cottage, looking down into the man-made lock.

It will be there for a year and is well worth a visit.
How lovely
