I tried to get away with it by saying we've got lots of natural bughotels in the garden: between the stones of the dry stone wall, the heaps of wood and bark in the garden, overgrown parts of the garden.
But no.
'School said bughotel', the children told me, 'We need to make one!'.
Okay, okay.
And then we all got involved and it turned into a family project! It's not finished yet. We need to drill holes in the old tyre and we want to sow some more wild flower seeds around it.
Wow - so impressive! I'm raising snails, slugs, and roly-polies in a 10-gallon fish tank and the roly-polies are taking over! I'm going to have to let some of them go. :) They're fun to watch, though. I'm keeping them for my kindergarten class if and when school starts up again. :)
