Staging post.

The black dots in this tree are jackdaw's getting ready to fly off to their night roost. Over the years the numbers have gone up due to no natural predators. In the village they find the chimney pots irresistible to nest in and also they return each year. I am a nature lover but the numbers are going up and up. We have now been joined by parakeets, that were 2 in number originally, numbers in the flock now exceed 25. Small birds do seem to be at a low number certainly in my garden and I can only think we are looking at some of the culprits.
There certainly seems to be a lot of them there! It reminds me of the film The Birds, they look a bit creepy!

A fine shot. Yup! We have a nestful in one of our chimneys. Every Autumn the nest comes down so we can use the chimney and every spring the b*ggers put it back. We too are suffering a huge increase in numbers.

Very interesting commentary. Our birds in number here are black crows who seem to enjoy our lawn and our roof. Lots of them. And noisy.

All the trees round here look like this - full of jackdaws or parakeets (rarely in the gardens though) - they do look dramatic

Great image of the bare tree with the many birds.

So inspiring. Interesting how many of them are faced the same way. They look like thoughts getting ready to fly away.
