Spent an interesting morning with a group of people at the Cat Survival Trust in Herts. I was helping a gent out who tries to support the Trust and is looking to set up a local photo club. I have met him and he has seen some of my wildlife shots from around the world. Although he is a pro photographer he is a wedding photographer but he thought that some of my local shots in Herts may help plus what I use. There is always one isn't there, when seeing the Kingfisher shots he proudly stated that anybody could take one of these shots from a baited hide and some of my bear shots were described as no better than his portrait shots that he takes, of course with a Nikon. Interesting discussion ensued, mainly from the guy who invited me as he knows how long I have spent in the field looking for and taking shots of the Kingfisher plus the effort to get to bear country in BC.
That's a grumpy looking mountain lion!! Fantastic detail in the fur and a fav for me. Thing is, you don't take shots from a baited hide and that is the beauty of yours......the kingfishers are in their natural environment and you have spent hours researching their world.
Great shot Padlock. The judge at camera club thought my kingfisher shot was from a baited hide - I was disgusted! It was the first one I took when I came with you. Don't take any notice of this so called "professional" other than to admire his Nikon of course LOL Fav for this great shot
What a wonderful portrait - you've captured his intelligence and wisdom, and maybe sadness too. He is magnificent. I don't know what a baited hide is but I know you're an amazing wildlife photographer whose work is the real thing. There are always people willing to tear others down to make themselves feel better.
