For my mentoring Group - theme - varied focal lengths. This was on this mornings walk and I am not sure this is really what is required from the theme. I have not found a vista that is distant enough to get a real variation in focal length or high enough. In this example the boat was moving towards me .
@taffy@newbank@888rachel@golftragic First effort for the theme. Not really pleased with it as I am not sure this fits the theme as the boat was moving towards me.
just messing about on the river......great capture, really shows the effect of focal length, narrow boats don't move that fast. I quite fancy owning one
I think you've captured the idea -- in the 70mm, the people are not very important to the image, in contrast to the closeup. And the mid-range one emphasizes the way the boat's wake reflects where the boat has been. I would think even without the large vistas, just in your village you could have very different emphases on a single house versus the big view.
Oh yes Pam, this is exactly what I thought the exercise was about, the main subject of each shot is quite different from the others just by altering the focal length. Works for me.
This looks great. In the 2 wider angles, you can clearly see the boats wake, and therefore imply it's movement. The closer angle, it's more about the people. Very nice.
