I heard a bird singing while walking on the local Common near our cottage. Finally I spotted it sitting on the ferns and got a few shots. he looks like he has a tuft on top of his head. I have checked the bird book in the cottage and the nearest to this is the Reed Bunting - if anyone can confirm or let me know what it is I would be grateful.
I am so thrilled to see this on the PP! I love the shot and knowing how difficult it was to get makes it all the sweeter!
@elaine55 Thanks Elaine good to see you back!! hope all is ok with you and yours? I use my 100mm-400mm lens for bird shots Elaine - a wonderful lens and now I have the canon 5D mark 111 I can get more bif shots!!
@elaine55 yes it is heavy plus my camera is heavy too. I use black rapid shoulder strap when I am using that lens as it has good padding on shoulder. I use it hand held for all.my bird shots. I only normally use my tripod for landscapes when I am really concentrating on landscapes if you know what I mean - like practicing hypa focal distance etc. I do find it hard to carry the tripod very far plus camera bag etc. Gone are the days when I used to carry everything plus the kitchen sink! If I am going out looking for bird shots I would only take the camera plus the big lens.
