Another beautiful building in Cardiff Bay. Not sure what the building is or what the words say as it seems to be a mixture of Welsh and English. The roof of this building is copper and glows in the sunshine.
Many thanks for your lovely comments on yesterday's photos - very much appreciated!!
Wonderful shot with clouds as backdrop. Great location - the Opera House. I was there last year and have shots of many of the wonderful images in this city..
@taffy thanks Taffy I took the opportunity while in a big city to practice my architecture shots. I enjoyed seeing the interesting and often unusual buildings.
This is a wonderful building, and the roof seems to blend into the wall! Great capture.....love the words, and I am assuming they get illuminated from behind at night!
Lovely image of an iconic building. regarding the text: Inscribed on the front of the dome, above the main entrance, are two poetic lines, written by Welsh poet Gwyneth Lewis. The Welsh version is Creu Gwir fel gwydr o ffwrnais awen, which means "Creating truth like glass from the furnace of inspiration." The English is In These Stones Horizons Sing. My husband's cousin went to college in Cardiff. This building is So unique, who can afford copper these days. Someone near here put up copper downspouts and copper gutters on a very expensive house and a few months after they did that somebody stole them in the middle of the night. They did find the guys and put them in jail. Metal dealers and pawn dealers around here call the police when something like that happens.
