I put lots of bird food out this morning as I do every morning and then sat with my camera and waited for the robin to turn up. Suddenly this gorgeous bird landed on the feeder and took me by surprise. I did not know what it was. My book tells me it is a female black cap. I have seen the male before (not in my garden) but never the female. I read about them and it says they are very aggressive on bird feeders - see the shot in my extras album as this proved to be very true!! She has taken over and its chasing all the other birds off - wonderful to watch!!
I have tried to put the link in to the shot in my extras album but I cannot make it work. I now have a Mac and I am probably using the wrong commands - Command C to copy and Command V to paste - any help greatly appreciated.
Many thanks for your lovely comments on yesterday's image - much appreciated!!
Great find Pam, I have had them in the garden before now. Sometimes they have been regulars on the feeders, and like you say can be quite possessive. This year they seem to be more in the general area, rather than actually in the garden. They did breed last summer at the bottom of either mine or next doors garden.
If you are using Safari, I highlight in blue what you want to copy, move the mouse up to Edit in the header bar, click on it, then click on Copy, highlight where you want it to go, and then click on Paste. Might not be the quickest way but it works.
Love the photo, the dof is spot-on. Congratulations for joining the forces of light in the computing world. I've been a Mac girl since there were Macs, never used a PC. I'm no expert but happy to help if you're in trouble or a bit lost.
Wonderful capture of a pretty, if aggressive, bird. Congrats on the move up to a Mac. Command C and Command V are correct. You can also simulate Windows right click commands by pressing the Control key and various others keys at the same time. You'll love it - especially for photo applications.
