This is the burdock plant in flower. Notice the prickly balls which when they die off drop onto the ground. When an animal passes by and picks up one of these prickly balls it is so very difficult to get it out of the fur. My boys always end up with these horrible things stuck all over them. Particularly difficult to get off the nose!! The trouble is when they have dropped onto the ground in the hedgerow you just cannot see them.

Many thanks for your lovely comments on my images - very much appreciated.
An early start in the morning following my course of steroids 8 weeks ago I now have to have a full breathing test. I don't think I have asthma - I think I had sinusitis and I should have been given antibiotics and not steroids which really made me feel ill!!
I remember someone putting these 'burrs' in my long hair when I was a little girl. My dad sat and patiently picked them out. Nice shot of this nuisance plant!
What an interesting plant. I have never see a burdock before. I remember drinking dandelion and burdock when I was a child, so it is so good to see what burdock actually looks like.
