Through the trees

Its been a traumatic time here the last few days with my sister developing vertigo on Wednesday and unable to even get out of bed without falling over. I had a nightmare time trying to get hold of a doctor and finally got the duty doctor to phone. He diagnosed low blood pressure and stopped one of her BP tablets. He said take her to the pharmacy and get her blood pressure taken. As she couldn't get out of bed I went out and bought a new BP monitor - mine did not fit her arm. I did 3 readings and they were all around 155/80 which is neither high or low. Another call to the doctors and finally a different doctor phoned back. He agreed with me that her BP was not low so has reinstated the original Meds. After lots of questions he decided it was vertigo (just as I said first thing in the morning - just call me Dr Pam) and he prescribed some pills for the dizziness. She is much better today but resting as she still feels light headed.

Meanwhile George had his eye operation yesterday and I have been trying to get him to keep his collar on. The vet fitted the plastic collar as that would stop him being able to scratch the eye. When we got home George went mad trying to get it off and got his claw caught in the collar. I took it off and put on the blow up collar. He can still reach his eye with his foot so I am keeping a close eye on him. It was a long night!! Back to vets today and she is pleased with the wound but the surrounding skin is inflamed which is probably an allergic reaction to the iodine they disinfect the area with. He is on anti-inflammatory drops and now antibiotics. It is not easy trying to get him to take his meds!!
Nurse Pam you are a good caretaker. Hope everyone is well soon.

Oh dear Pam you have all had such a time!! Vertigo is a dreadful thing to have, I feel so sorry for your poor sister. It’s strange how it comes on so suddenly for some unknown reason. I had it last year & fell over in the road…I hope the tablets continue to work but vertigo saps your confidence as you think it will happen again when you’re out.& about. George too…..you have two invalids….hope you cope!

Ooh Pam ! what a time you are having with two patients to tend too -- how frightening for your sister and so debilitating - and so difficult when you can not see a Dr but just diagnosing over the phone ! Hope the pills will do the trick !! As for George - hope he will soon recover after his op ! must be so traumatic to have a sore eye and then be insulted by being put in a plastic collar ! Take a deep breath and try to be able to rest awhile from your duties !!

Oh my goodness! What a day! Vertigo is not fun! I went to a neck nurse who put the rocks in my head back in the right place! :). A strange experience!

Poor George! I didn't know he needed eye surgery. I hope he has a quick recovery, Pam!
