There are no Fetes, Fayres or Festivals happening near here today so I had a go at something I have wanted to try for ages. Luckily I have visitors this weekend so i had someone to burst the balloons for me. These were Tescos cheap balloons but I could only get a small amount of water into the balloon - I think I am doing something wrong. Anyway this was the best shot of quite a few attempts. I think I will get proper water balloons next time.
(Definitely better large if you have time)
Many thanks to everyone who has commented on my shots in the last couple of days - I really appreciate you stopping by and giving me your support!! I am so sorry I have been unable to comment on most of your shots this weekend but with visitors in the house it's very hard to get any time on the computer without seeming to be extremely rude!! I will try to catch up as soon as I can!!
@phillchilton Thanks Phill!! This was more difficult than I had imagined. I assumed that the balloon would fill up with water but it didn't!! Then once I had a little water in I then blew the balloon up - not easy!! There was only a very little water in the bottom of the balloon. I tied it off and then hung it from my bird feeder. My sister was my helpfull assistant and we stuck a pin on the end of a scewer to burst the balloon. A few missed shots when I hadn't started taking the shots on (Al servo) before she popped the balloon!! Finally managed to co-ordinate ourselves and started shooting well before she popped the balloon. Great fun!! I will have another go at this!!
Pam, we fitted the balloon over the end of the tap, so the air couldn't escape, support the bottom some how....then half filled it. Slide off tap and knot...WITHOUT letting the air escape....or you get very wet! We just used Tesco value balloons.
your capture is still great despite lack of water :)
@pixiemac Thanks for that Sarah!! We had such a laugh just trying to get the water in the balloons!! I nearly burst a blood vessel trying to blow it up with a little bit of water in it!! It was also very windy in the garden which made getting the balloon in focus quite hard!! It was great fun though. I will have another go at it. I did buy a pack of 50 tescos balloons!!
How funny that we where doing practically the same thing. I wanted to try water but it was so windy outside that it had to be inside or nothing, so flour it was. We found it incredibly difficult to time the shot and the popping as we had to use such a slow shutter speed with flash as there was such poor light. I think you did really well, especially as you have a part of the balloon in the shot, thank goodness for willing assistants!!
