I went in search of an ice cream and found this in the childrens park by the River Nene. It took a while to get a shot with no one in it!! I am very wary of taking photos with little children in and although they looked great standing and touching this huge cone I resisted the urge to get a shot.
Lovely shot of a delicious ginormous 99 !! and no-one has even licked it !! Super find , Pam ! I hope you had a more modestly sized treat after this fab shot !! :)
@yonnie Oh thanks Yvonne it was so exciting!! I had to keep leaving the room in the last game - a real nail biter!! I just couldn't belive he would do it!! His mum cried - how proud she must be!!
@bizziebeeme A 99 wasn't called 99 because of the price. I just googled it as I remember it being called a 99 way back in old money days! It seems the origin is lost in time and there are a number of ideas but they are not really sure which one is correct but definitely not the cost. They are very pricey now but lovely! Now I want one! Lol!
Its actually difficult to see how big it is without a person or a child in it! I would presume it is bigger than your hand would be? The icecreams in NZ are fabulous - really creamy texture - must be the dairy milk used from our farms!
@maggiemae it stands about 4 feet tall. It did look good with the children touching it but I do try to avoid getting children in my shots. I have found people are very aware of me with my big camera and lenses. They ignore men with mobile phones! It's a sad world!
@pamknowler I do agree with you! I was affterwards forbidden to take my "photographic gear" into a social that I attended because I was taking photos! Others were taking photos with their phones all the time!
