I noticed this bush in my front garden this morning because there was a blackbird eating the red berries - until Finlay took a dive and nearly caught the bird!! The colours of the leaves were a lovely mix of green through yellow, orange and red. I had a play in PS and liked this effect. I love the colourful bokeh!! I think I am having a bokeh moment!! LOL!!
Many thanks to you all for your great comments and Favs on both my Chocolate Cocktail and again on Frosty the Snowman - they are both on the PP!! How wonderful!
14/12 - 4am and I can't sleep as I keep coughing! Looking at 365 on my Kindle and I was so surprised to see this shot has made it to the PP! I am blown away as I now have my last three shots on PP at the same time! Many thanks to my wonderful friends whose great comments and Favs have got them all there! Off to make a cup of tea to celebrate! Lol!
@jo13 So far so good with Photomatix Jo. It's all a bit new to me as I have never taken bracketed shots before. I have been very pleased with my efforts so far - especially the B&W HDR shots I did at Sywelll Airport. I really need to find places where it will give an interesting HRD shot. I found Photomatix very easy to use just using the presets - a large choice. I need to get my head round doing the tone mapping myself but not sure I will need to delve too deeply to be honest. Some of the shots I worked on I really pushed the limits and loved the effects but that was fun and not really what I wanted. I hate it if people say HDR yuk - over processed!! I took a couple of shots standing at my front door and my car is in the shot and it really gave some vibrancy to the scene which I loved. I have put examples of my HDR efforts so far in my albums. I think Photomatix is a really handy tool to have. I am looking forward to doing some shots inside buildings like a church where the light is bad. I think HDR will come into it's own then retrieving all those details. I am enjoying my new toy - a nice present to myself!! LOL!!
Thank you sooo much for your response. Like you I have NEVER taken a bracketed shot so first I need to figure that out, but I have to say I do like the HDR effect when its not over done, so I was very interested to hear what you had to say about it and see some of your shots. I think I might trial it first, if they offer it, and then when my 365 year is up take some time off to get my head around all the new things I have been wanting to learn. Thanks for sharing and good luck, I like what I see so far.
@busylady@yonnie@yorkie@sheilag thank you all so much for your great comments and Favs which have helped put this shot on PP! Wow 3 shots on PP at the same time! I am blown away!
@jo13@pamknowler I found your exchange about photomatrix interesting. I don't use PS, but ended up with Nik Suite instead and have liked it a lot. That's the one I use for HDR too -- but try to be careful because they can look overprocessed. Pam, I love this shot -- the background is so fun and sets off the berries well. And THREE on PP!! Congrats! Well deserved!
@taffy Thanks for your imput Taffy, I have also been considering Nik silver efex as I hear it's good for B&W, are you saying that HDR comes with it, I must confess I haven't looked into it yet but am wanting to try new things.......if and when I can find the time!
@jo13@taffy Jo I also have Nik Silver Efex and it is brilliant for B&W processing - I love it!! See my recent B&W tree shots which were processed with it. I tried to get a trial of the Nik HDR and ended up downloading the whole suit of programs but not the HDR. When I deleted the trial it had deleted my Silver Efex Pro. Luckily I bought it with the CD and not a download and I could re-install it. I got myself into such a confusion that I decided to give the Nik HDR a miss!! This is probably just me as I am not computer literate at all!! I did manage to install the Photomatix without any problem and even managed to link it to LR. I think if you bought the whole Nik Suit of programs it would be much easier.
@pamknowler@taffy As I seem to be on a bit of a B&W theme at the mo, I feel I have probably taken Lightroom as far as it can go which is why I was considering Nik silver Efex, especially as you have pointed out that HDR is in with the package. I do find all these downloads confusing and my poor old PC is groaning under the weight of all my photos and processing, but I think I will give the trial a go, thank you both for sharing your thoughts, nothing ventured nothing gained!!
This is so beautiful, Pam! I live the colors and wonderful bokeh. Thanks for sharing the info about Photomatrix. It was very helpful and interesting. Fav!
