This beautiful field of Lavender is near where I used to live in Surrey. They have a lavender farm with a shop and sell lots of different products made from lavender. I only discovered this farm just before I moved up to the Midlands - typical!! A lovely place to wander and run your hands through the lavender - I love the perfume!! A dream place for photographers!!
Please look large if you have time.
Many thanks for your great comments and Favs on my waterfall yesterday - it reached the trending page which was lovely.
12/2/14 How funny another photo that went on the PP for approx 10 minutes!! With 21 Favs I am not sure anymore how you get onto PP and stay there. It would have been nice to see it there!! LOL!!
13/2/14 Whoopee It's back on the PP and I can see it!! Manythanks to everyone for their comments and Favs which got it there - for more than 10 mins!! LOL!!
We have a place here called "Flora Pacifica" that has a field like this and a small garden they call the plant petting zoo, with things like rosemary and apple mint, and oregano and lavender, and soft lamb's ear.
@jo13 Thanks Jo. The farm is called Mayfield Lavender and their web site is http://www.mayfieldlavender.com/ They are closed for the winter and open on the 1st June. I took this shot in July but I think it would be a good idea to check out the web site in the summer as I suppose it could be affected by the weather. The site is on a hill so I don't think it will be flooded!! A lovely place to wander and take photos. When I visited there was a bride and groom having their wedding photos taken - a fabulous backdrop for a photoshoot!!
The colors and the leading lines make this an amazing photo! I bet you could take it to the farm and they'd love to have it to display. And I ADORE lavender! I put it on the bottom of my feet every night... ahhh... I sleep like a baby!
Instant fav for me. I love the pov and the tree in the distance, and most of all, the lavender itself. I will think of this picture next time I put some of my lavender-scented lotion on my hands. Thank-you!
p.s. - I agree - I had one get 21 faves pretty quickly a couple of weeks ago and didn't make and then another did with 15 - I don't worry about it any more.
Gorgeous purple hues, I can practically smell the lavendar. It reminds me of when I used to live in Norfolk, we used to love to visit Heacham lavendar farms in the summer.
@hasselhotch@seanoneill Thank you both for giving me some new lavender farms to visit!! I live in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire - sounds like two great day trips to both of them in the summer.
