I took this today but am filling in yesterday's blank. This is the village of Clovelly where my niece Ruth lives. It is a privately owned village which you have to pay to enter except if you are visiting family. There are no cars allowed and everything has to be taken to the houses on sledges. It is cobbles all the way down the very steep hill to the harbour at the bottom. Absolute hell on arthritic knees!! The weather was very dodgy today - sun one minute and heavy rain the next. This luckily meant that there were not many visiters and I was able to get this shot with no people.
I have done a B&W version which I will put in my Extras album.
@jamibann All the houses are owned by the one man and are rented out to people. He is not a very good landlord and they have to wait to get any repairs done on the old houses. It always seems to me that most of the people are Hippy dropouts who went down to Devon and Cornwall to "get away". I think in the summer after 5pm when the visiters have left the villagers have a lovely social life. Not so good in winter!!
I love the color in this version, although the timelessness of the b&w certainly had its appeal. The colors here show off the blue of the water, and the crisp white houses set off by lively plantings makes for a satisfying color experience as well.
