2017 02 01 - The Wheel of light

For those of you who were interested in how my image Ball of Light, in my main album, was created this is the equipment used. When Sarah @piximac got this wheel off of the shelf in the garage I looked at it blankly and could not imagine what we would do with it.

The wheel has a pole pushed through the centre and small lights have been fixed at the end of each spoke. With the garage lights turned out and my camera set on Bulb Sarah slowly pushed the wheel round in a circle as I opened the shutter. After one turn I closed the shutter and looked at the image. Wow - it was a simple version of my Ball of Light. There was lots of water on the floor of the garage and we noticed that there was a small reflection. More water was poured onto the floor and I moved further away to capture the light image and its full reflection. The final image was 4 turns on the wheel and the whole image is reflected in the water making it look like a ball.

I hope this is clear. I was amazed at the results we got from this simple wheel. What a brilliant idea!! What fun we had!!

Uploaded for my alternate album
@pixiemac Sarah I hope I have explained this properly. What fun it was to play with this. Roll on next week - what will we find to play with I wonder?

Thanks for sharing the set up. I did something similar to get some light trails in December but I never thought about rolling it around on the ground like you did, I just let it spin!
