I was sorting my camera gear out when i noticed Finlay had followed me into the room and was watching the TV. I managed to get this shot before he noticed I had the camera pointed at him and moved. He always watches TV and attacks the screen whenever a dog, horse, cartoon or anything moving fast comes on screen. He can be asleep and hear the music for a programme or commercial and he is immediately awake and barking at the set!! Such a pain!!
Best looked at large if you have time.
Uploaded for my Extras album
I have just seen that this shot of finlay was on the PP. I missed it completely so it must have gone on and straight of!!
Oh - this is our dog! She's just the same and she looks identical. Well done for catching him before he moved - it's a perfect shot and just typical of how they sit. Our Betty watches TV too, especially animal programmes like countryfile. She even likes Gardener's World as she often catches a glimpse of their dog Nigel! I've got to fav this!
Findlay is such a cutie! The movie Dances with Wolves has a scene where the wolves run past the screen. My lab of may years ago used to watch the wolves on the screen, then try to find them behind the TV!
Lovely Finlay watching TV! At least barking in the house he won't disturb the neighbours. This is a sensitive subject for me as we recently had a letter from the council as a neighbour had complained about Jinks barking in the garden. Well he does bark, but not in the way they described - gross exagerration! It really upset me that they didn't come to the door and speak to us.
@quietpurplehaze oh Hazel I'm so sorry you are having neighbours trouble! How sad that they didn't come to you first! So upsetting! Finlay does bark in the garden sometimes - mostly when he can hear another dog bark and I usually try to get him inside if he starts. It's strange my next door neighbours have a mission and she yaps all the time looking through the fence at Finlay. He just ignores her! Dogs are funny creatures I think. Finlay normally only barks when he is frightened. The TV barking has become a bad habit I just can't break.
@busylady Judith I keep hearing from Westie owners that their dogs do the same as Finlay watching and barking at the TV. All my friends say their dogs don't even notice the TV. Definitely a Westie thing! Little darlings!
@kjarn He was watching Coronation Street - he loves the beginning titles - a ginger cat and two pigeons!! He then sat down as you see to watch and wait for the next bit of excitement. He can move so quickly off the sofa and is bashing his nose against the TV screen before you can blink!! Its funny sometimes i am watching a play or detective programme - no animals in sight - and he jumps up and gets closer to the TV - waiting. Then if you listen carefully there may be a dog barking in the distance or sheep baa-ing or even birds singing!! You can hear him growling quietly under his breath!! He is naughty!!
@kjarn Apart from this major fault he really is a very good dog and just loves everyone. Outside the house he loves any dog/person he meets and wants to say hello to them all!! Most just ignore him!! LOL!!
Super cute! We have one who will only watch tv if there are animals on the screen... and she barks and attacks! I don't have a lot of problems as I watch Food Network or Home and Garden Television, but the men at my house watch the outdoor channel so they have to put up with more than me! Fav!
One of our cats (Bob) knows David Attenborough's voice and wakes to watch his programme
