7th January 2014 - Surprise Orchid

This was an orchid I bought towards the end of last year. It was sitting on a table at the garden centre labelled "End of Season Clearence" It had been £16 and was reduced to £1. There was no picture or identity tag on the pot but the leaves looked similar to other orchids I already have. This week the flower started to open and I have been taken by surprise as this looks like no other orchid I have. It looks more like a pitcher plant with the deep cup in it's centre. Just beautiful. If anyone can identify what orchid this is I will be very impressed and also very pleased!! I just wanted to share this beauty with you. Of course I have missed macro Monday - typical!! LOL!!

Best looked at large against black as usual!!

Uploaded for my extras album

How exciting both my shots today are on the Trending Page!! Many thanks to you all for putting them there!!
Pretty Classic:)

Fav for this gorgeous shot. I wonder if perhaps it's not an orchid but don't know. If somebody identifies it for you Pam, I'd love to know what it is. Well done for the rescue!
