23rd January 2014 - East Coast view

This was from a view point south of Hornsea and is typical of the coastline all the way down. Sandy beaches but cliffs which are crumbling away. The storms of the last weeks have done so much damage all along this coast with houses and roads falling into the sea. Many roads are closed as the cliffs are too dangerous to walk along!! There are some houses perched right on the cliffs edge and you can see it wont be long before they collapse onto the beach below. How sad for those people who live there!!

Uploaded for my extras album
How sad. Great photo, though. You composed it well.

This immediately reminded me of the lost city of Dunwich. I visited the coast in the 60's and have never forgotten the story of it crumbling into the sea.

What a beautiful scene, but how worrisome for those poor homeowners!
