This is wonderful!! I love the details and the way they pop but aren't subsumed by color (still like the color version, though). The composition is well balanced and in this one, the sky doesn't seem so starkly contrasting with the building, the way it did in color. I'd say you did it. Now, if you are to go back and re-take this with your full frame, and do more editing to get to this shot again (or if you wanted to work on this one -- not sure if worth it for iPhone image if you are retaking), I would think about cloning out two thing: the light branch that's sort of in the sky in the middle of the roofline and the tree branch on the far right side. They seem more distracting than adding to the composition and who up more in the b&w version. In the color, they are so outshone by the tones that I didn't notice them. What a fun shot to work with!
@taffy Thanks for the great critique Taffy. I will definitely go back with my Canon 5D and take some bracketed shots and see what I can do with them!! I might be able to get a shot of the station which looks quite interesting. So glad I have found some architecture which has some history to it.
Much of what I said in the earlier image also applied here, though, to me, this is quite a different photo. This one is more about mood and texture cf the architectural story of the coloured version. Personally, I prefer the colour version. But the tree branches top right still intrude on the lines, and in this version the vegetation growing through the roof distracts the eye too.
I have to say that I like the colour one more, though this does look good in b&w too. I agree with @taffy, to cone a few of those branches out. Such an interesting old place.
